Major events: At the top of the list is the Festival of Avignon,
with both its official festival performed in about
twenty locations and its fringe festival boasting
450 different shows. The Chorégies Festival
transforms the Roman Theater in Orange into
one of the most beautiful lyrical stages of the
summer. Both these festivals have become
international events not to be missed. Other
festivals are also gaining ground, such as the
Estivales and the Taillades, not to mention the
starry theatrical and musical nights held in
Carpentras. And then there is the antique theater
and its own stars in Vaison la Romaine. Artists are
also at home in the Luberon and the Papal
